Static bid & autobid
Static bid
You bid a certain amount for a work of art. If someone outbids you, you can make a new bid. If someone outbids you, you will receive an email about this.
Auto bid
An auto bid can be compared to a written bid during a 'live' auction. You indicate the maximum price
you are willing to pay for the artwork. The auction system arranges the bids for you: whenever
someone bids higher than you, the system immediately makes another bid (based on the agreed bid
increase). If necessary, this will happen until your maximum bid is reached. The system will only stop
if someone else's bid exceeds your maximum. In that case you will immediately receive an e-mail
about this.
An example: someone bids €250,- for an auction item and you want to spend a maximum of €450,- for
it. You choose the AutoBid option and enter the amount of €450,-. In the €100,- up to €500,- price category, the
bid increase is €10,- per bid. The system will then bid €260,- on your behalf. If someone else bids €270,-
the system will bid €280,- for you. If no one else places a bid, you may acquire the auction item for €280,-. Will the
bidding still go ahead? Then the system will continue to place bids for you until your maximum bid of €450,-
has been reached.
You can lower your automatic bid by placing a new AutoBid: then choose the bid with which you just
outbid the current bid. At that point, you are still the highest bidder until someone bids higher again.
