1. Registration and login

I haven’t received a confirmation email for my registration. What should I do?

It can take up to 15 minutes to receive the confirmation email. Also check your spam or junk mail folder.
To prevent messages from veilingenvankunst@veilet.com from ending up there, add this address to your list of trusted senders.

If you accidentally entered the wrong email address during registration, please register again.
If your email address is correct but you still haven’t received the confirmation, please contact us.

 

2. Bidding
How much can I bid?

You can place a bid starting from the amount listed for the item at the beginning of the auction.

How can I see which bid is mine?

Your own bid will be marked with “(my bid)” next to it.

You can also view your bids under ‘My bids’ in your account.

 

Can I withdraw my bid?

No. Every bid placed in an auction is binding and irrevocable.
If you are the highest bidder and your bid is accepted, you are legally obligated to complete the transaction.

 

What happens if I have the highest bid?

You will receive an email confirmation. This email includes a link for payment and for choosing whether you’d like the item shipped.

You can also see the item listed through “My Orders” under “My Account.” You can download the invoice and complete your payment from that page.

 

If the item is not listed and you are sure you placed the highest bid, please contact us at
veilingenvankunst@veilet.com, and include your name, the auction reference, and the amount of your bid.

 

Why is an auction extended?

An auction is extended if a bid is placed within the last five minutes before closing.
This ensures that every bidder has a fair chance to place one final bid.
This rule applies to all auctions.

 

What can I do with an Auto Bid?

With an Auto Bid, you can set the maximum amount you’re willing to pay for an item — without having to wait for the auction to end.

 

What happens if someone places the same bid as my Auto Bid?

Your bid takes priority.
The system will place your Auto Bid amount first.
In the bidding history, two identical bids will appear — the top one (your Auto Bid) is the winning bid.
The item will be awarded to the bidder with the top (Auto Bid) entry after the auction closes.


Can I set an Auto Bid if I’m already the highest bidder?

Yes, you can.
This is useful if you currently hold the highest bid but won’t be available when the auction ends.
If another bid is placed near the end, the Auto Bid will automatically outbid it (up to your maximum) to keep you in the lead.

 

What if my maximum Auto Bid is lower than the next minimum bid?

If your maximum Auto Bid amount is lower than the next minimum increment, your maximum bid will still be placed.
In that case, the system temporarily ignores the standard bidding increments.

Example:
You set an Auto Bid of €300. Another bidder offers €295.
The system will place a bid of €300 on your behalf, even though the next minimum bid would normally be €305.

 

Can I set more than one Auto Bid?

You can set only one Auto Bid per item, but you can set Auto Bids on multiple items at once.

 

Can I cancel my Auto Bid?

Yes. You can cancel it by clicking the “Disable” button on the page of the item concerned.

 

Can I lower my Auto Bid?

Yes. You can lower it by canceling your current Auto Bid and setting a new one.
To cancel, click the “Disable” button on the page of the item.

 

Who can see my Auto Bid?

The maximum amount of your Auto Bid is not visible to other bidders.
Only in rare cases where it is necessary to analyze bidding activity can staff members of Veilingen van Kunst view your Auto Bid details.

 

Does my Auto Bid continue during an extended auction?

Yes. The Auto Bid will continue to place bids during any auction extensions until your maximum amount is reached.

 

3. Payment

Payment Methods

You can pay via iDEAL or bank transfer.
A payment link will be sent to you by email.
It’s also possible to pay directly through your account — go to “My Orders” under “My Account.”

 

Payment status

You can view your payment status under “My Orders” in “My Account.”
If you paid by bank transfer, it may take some time before the system processes your payment.
If your order status hasn’t changed after three business days, please contact us.

 

What happens if I don’t pay on time?

After winning an item, you have exactly five days (5 x 24 hours) to complete your payment.
If payment hasn’t been received within this period, you’ll receive a reminder by email.
If payment is still outstanding after one week, a second reminder will be sent.
We send a maximum of three reminders, each spaced one week apart.
If payment is still not received after that, Veilingen van Kunst reserves the right to engage a debt collection agency or bailiff.

 

Invoices

After payment, you can download your invoice under “My Orders” in “My Account.”
This invoice serves as proof of payment.

 

4. Handling of Purchased Items

How will I receive my won item?

You can choose to either pick up your won item at our depot in Nijmegen or have it shipped to your home. We can arrange delivery for you. Veilingen van Kunst works with several courier companies and selects the most suitable and cost-effective option for each item.
If an item cannot be shipped, this will be clearly indicated in the item description.

 

What are the shipping costs for my item?

Shipping costs vary per item and depend on factors such as size and weight.
If an item cannot be shipped, this will be clearly indicated.
These are the standard shipping rates within the Netherlands:
•    Items up to 150 cm, shipped by courier: €49.50 per item. 
Each additional artwork to the same address costs €14.50.
•    Items longer than 150 cm, shipped by courier: €99.50 per item
If different shipping costs apply due to the item’s size or weight, this will be specified in the artwork description.

 

Can I pick up my won item at Veilingen van Kunst?

Yes, you can. Items can only be picked up after payment has been received. Payment on site is not possible.

PLEASE NOTE: the first possibilitiy for picking up items is on Wednesday 10 December.

Pickup is available only on Wednesdays between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM.
You don’t need to make an appointment, but please bring your invoice — either printed or on your phone.

How long will Veilingen van Kunst store my purchased items?

We store your purchased items free of charge for up to six weeks after the auction.
After that, storage fees will apply.
